I haven’t posted in a while because
I got distracted by hundreds of 6ft something, glorious backed, rowing men I just recently moved home and have been slightly distracted catching up with everyone and everything.
Amongst these distractions was a glorious weekend spent in Henley for the rowing regatta.
This was my third year going to the event, although I hadn’t been for a couple, and it was as glorious as ever.
It is just always such a gorgeous weekend, full of fabulous outfits, delicious food and drink, sunshine, racing, and friends. Even if you’re not into rowing, I would recommend heading down one year as the atmosphere is perfect.
You don’t have to pay for entry; just pack your picnic, a ridiculous hat or blazer and perch yourself along the river bank for a brilliantly atmospheric day out.
Rather than bore you with my
drunken had-to-be-there moments from the weekend, I’m just going to show you some of the fun you missed out on.
Each day, we left the campsite (Swiss Farm) between 10-11 for breakfast, and then made our way to the race course for the second round of racing.
By this time however, the river bank is pretty packed; so as soon as you spot an empty spot of grass, jump on it!
In terms of outfits, anything goes. I would say, the crazier the better – be bright, be bold, be daring.
There are plenty of food and drink stalls scattered along the bank, and this year there was a mini ‘food festival’ hidden behind the path.
From burgers and crepes to thai and seafood, there was everything you would have ever wanted – there was even a gathering of hay stacks to perch yourself on!
After playing around trying to be arty with our pictures, we were pleasantly surprised with some celebratory fireworks.
The perfect end to the perfect weekend.
I hope to see you there next year!
